I am so excited to welcome you to my new blog! I plan to offer etiquette tips along with my personal thoughts on whatever I find makes my heart sing at the particular moment. To make it a little easier for you to get to know me, here are a few facts about myself. I own The Protocol School of Texas, and have been teaching corporate etiquette for 14 years. I am also the resident etiquette expert for a morning television show on an NBC affiliate, WOAI TV, SA Living, which is hosted by vibrant and bubbly Shelly Miles.
My work requires that I travel a great deal and I enjoy my clients immensely. They range from small companies to large universities and everything in between. I am lucky to have had many great clients who have turned into wonderful friends and, most importantly, I love what I do! My passion is empowering others and I firmly believe that possessing strong etiquette skills gives everyone, regardless of status, an opportunity to play on a level field. Money does not buy class…only good shoes! I also write for an online magazine, www.hitchedmag.com, that I encourage you to visit and will often reference, as they are a great resource for those that are married and even those who are not.
I am married and the proud mother of three children that keep me very busy and constantly on my toes. One child is a natural artist and she is only 10. I am daily amazed at what she creates. My son is an incredible tennis player at the age of 13 and my oldest daughter is a teacher and has a heart for children. I am also blessed with great friends, many of whom you will meet in my blog as time goes on.
I am always on a quest to improve my health and lifestyle, which includes mind, body and soul. I enjoy exercising (not really, but it sounds good) although I walk daily and have great exercise clothes to give me extra incentive. I found the perfect store in Austin, Texas (www.bettysport.com)! One of my favorite things to do is cook, and I especially love to bake. I am always on the lookout for the perfect cupcake! I plan to share with you some of my favorite recipes, along with a variety of other “favorite things”. This month it is Maybelline’s Big Lash Mascara and Starbuck’s Hot Vanilla Steamers. I also am addicted to La Madeline’s Tomato Basil Soup.
I truly believe that the more you give the more you get back and my favorite saying is “To those who have been given much, much is expected”. Although I am an etiquette professional by trade, I believe you don’t need any special training to be nice. I have had the good fortune to have some wonderful mentors in my life that have impacted my direction. I’ve only just begun and look forward to what is ahead.
Finally, I plan to share my blog occasionally with guest bloggers; so if you are interested don’t hesitate to introduce yourself. Enough about me, I hope you will contact me and let me learn more about you. Here we go…
