Dear Diane,
I am in the process of a job change and am hoping to put together an email to go out to clients before I begin with the new company. I already sent an email two weeks ago announcing my departure from my current employer but would like to leave things on a high note with a final message. Do you have any suggestions on something professional that would help me to express my thanks?
Sincerely,
J.S.
Hello J.S.,
Thank you for your question, and congrats on your new endeavor! Before I share an example of a possible email draft, my first suggestion is to do your due diligence (I’m sure you already have) to confirm your boss does not take issue with your effort. They may have a policy on this matter. You’ll want to get the email approved by your supervisor so that you have the green light before hitting “send.”
Here’s an example that should help to get you started:
Dear Jennifer,
I would like to let you know that May 1st will be my last day at XYZ company. I’m heading off to a new adventure!
It has been a pleasure serving you and your company during my time at XYZ. I am grateful to have been part of a great team and am thankful I was able to add value to your organization.
Going forward, Sue or Jeanette will be coordinating the logistics for your account. Feel free to contact them directly at 555.555.5555.
Do stay in touch and hope to see you soon!
Kindest regards,
John/Jane Doe
