The Etiquette of Gratitude: What I am Thankful For this Holiday Season

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I would like to share with you what I am thankful for this holiday season:

  • I am thankful for the pain of childbirth
  • I am thankful for three healthy children who sometimes love me and sometimes wish I would go away
  • I am thankful for my health
  • I am thankful for those that I’ve loved and lost
  • I am thankful for those who are sticking it out with me through good times and bad
  • I am thankful for all of my friends – those that were with me for only a season and those that are still here after all these years
  • I am thankful for my daughter’s godfather who dropped everything he was doing at the last minute in another city to fill in for her dad at the father/daughter dance
  • I am thankful for failures and setbacks as they have taught me far more than any of my successes
  • I am thankful for my crooked bottom teeth
  • I am thankful for all of my colleagues and proud to call many of them friends
  • I am thankful for pumpkins and gourds, redbirds, and the smell of cinnamon
  • I am thankful for my career and those that support it
  • I am thankful that I still have time to make a difference in someone else’s life
  • I am thankful for everyone who reads this post and I pray abundance over you today and always
  • But most of all, I am thankful that I have a strong faith in a forgiving God that loves me in spite of all of my flaws

Happy Thanksgiving 2010
