It seems that Summer is always here and gone before we know it. Here are some summer etiquette tips to take advantage of the benefits of summer before they fade into Fall.
Buy fresh. Take advantage of your local farmer’s market and stock up on fresh fruit and veggies. Don’t buy so much that it goes to waste before you can eat it all. Plan another trip the following week, and the following…a great outing for your family.
Dry your clothes outside. Well, maybe not everything but a few key pieces, several times a week will save on your electric bill and leave your clothes smelling fresh and clean.
Get a medical exam. During the year it’s difficult to find time to get those routine checkups. Sit down this summer and make appointments for all of your annual exams. You will feel much better knowing you can check this item off of your to-do list.
Clean your kid’s closet. Get rid of everything that doesn’t fit your children before school starts in a few weeks. The last minute rush to get everything taken care of will be smoother if you know what you need to buy and what can be donated.
Turn off your technology… or at least put it on pause during the summer months while your kids are home and you have a little more time to spend with your family.
Wash your windows. On a hot summer day you won’t mind getting splashed with water and soap. Get the entire family involved.
Take a road trip. There are many things to do within miles of your house. Make it a point to find a new destination spot and make a date with your mate.
Change the filters and dust the blades. Everything that requires a filter can be changed in one morning including vacuums and air conditioners and every ceiling fan and window blind can be dusted by noon…especially with a little help.
Add some fruit to your water. Rather than reaching for a soda or coffee, go out back and pick some mint and cut up some fruit for a refreshing drink.
Enjoy the heat. As much as we all complain about the 100 plus degree weather, fall is just around the corner. Make it a point to lather up with sunscreen and get out and splash around with your family and friends.
Have a great summer!
