Every year around this time I’m asked “How to Write the Perfect Love Letter.” This year I decided to offer some advice on “How to Love Yourself” first. You may even want to consider writing yourself a love letter! My tips follow and my own love letter (to myself) is at the end. Try it…you might be surprised at how special you really are!
These “How to Love Yourself” tips are also available as a print-friendly PDF here. Print it and post it somewhere you’ll see it as a daily reminder. I’ve also included sharing buttons far below for quick posting to Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter so that you can pass the message along to a friend you love.
So based on the pointers above, here’s my love letter to myself:
Dear Me,
I gratefully RSVP “YES!” to the party of life. I vow to respect myself, making positive choices and losing everything that keeps me from staying stuck or moving forward. I will exercise my willpower to walk away from the artificial Kool-Aid bar and I refuse to allow someone else’s judgments to cloud my head. I promise to take myself out on dates more often and remind myself that God made me in His perfect image. I am going to speak powerful thoughts over myself and my family and friends, and make every effort to face adversity “head on.” I will continue to work on becoming more courageous and kind, and I will offer my love and goodwill with no return expectations. I am committed to being the best wife, mother, friend and daughter, today and through the next 364 days until next Valentine’s Day, when I come up with a new list and a new love letter to myself.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
