From invitations to decorations, I have put together a few of my favorite pins for throwing a holiday party. This list will ensure you have everything covered and can be the perfect host, enjoying your own party while making your guests feel special.
A pretty invitation sets the tone. Fun, creative, festive and informative is the key to a perfect invite. The invitation should offer important details such as “Who, What, Where and When”, plus your expectations for “Dress Attire”. Be clear in your definition of dress, such as “Casual”, “Cocktail”, “Business”, or “Black Tie”. The terms “Festive Chic” and “Holiday Merry” are too confusing.
“Please come in”. Nothing says “Welcome” like a well light walkway and front porch. Here are some ideas to create anticipation for what’s inside the door.
Holiday details make your house feel special. Pay attention to every corner of the house that your party will be in, to ensure it is decorated perfectly.
Table Setting. Festive plates, assorted candles, creative place cards, and a beautiful holiday centerpiece are just a few of the ways you can make the dinner table the center of attention.
Food. Whether you are having a sit down meal or offering heavy hors d’oeuvre’s, pay attention to the presentation. Don’t underestimate white dinnerware and platters, they are a classic and make every food item stand out as the “Star”. Take a look at some of these noteworthy ideas.
Offer an assortment of drink options. Wine, champagne punch, and hot cider or cocoa are all great choices. Serve your drinks in pretty mugs or glassware, and encourage your guests to sample several different drink choices.
Party Favors. As the night comes to an end, don’t let your guests walk out the door without a small holiday treat. Wish them Happy Holidays and give them a memory to look back on.
