I love Halloween – I love fall in general! As I write this blog at my office, we have cider on our stove and pumpkin shortbread as our morning treat (I make a mean shortbread!). And, it wouldn’t be Halloween at The Protocol School of Texas without a Halloween candy jar, brimming over with multiple sugary treats. My heart is filled with trick or treat goodness each time I fill the Halloween candy jar, almost daily, but I have noticed that the jars, dishes and pumpkin themed plastic tubs are never quite empty. The same lonely stragglers sit at the bottom of each vessel – Tootsie Rolls and Tootsie Pops.
I admit that I buy the good stuff, like Snickers, Mounds, Almond Joy, Kit Kat, and assorted other chocolates and then “fill in” with big bags of “the others” like…Tootsies. I’m not fooling anyone; my office can spot a “filler” a mile away. (I have my personal stash of chocolate and Peanut Butter Pumpkins by Reeses – my all-time favorite!)
Here’s a peek at a couple of my candy jars. What’s left behind at your office or home? What is your favorite and least favorite candy?
I hope this Halloween your candy jar is filled with lots of sugary sweet confections, along with many daily scoops of genuine goodwill and a huge dose of civility. Happy Halloween!
